WELLNESS THROUGH TAICHI
Wellness is having the energy to participate and enjoy every aspect of one's life. Tai Chi is a martial art form of Qigong practiced slowly and evenly for its wonderful wellness benefits. Qigong is the study and practice of nurturing your vital energy. Tai Chi and Qigong improve calmness of mind, relaxation, posture, stability, balance and coordination. They strengthen your body, calm your mind and emotions, and lift your spirit. We offer in-depth and individualized instruction within small groups during weekdays, evenings and weekends in retreat-like settings. Our Tai Chi classes begin with standing meditation and Qigong for about 30 minutes. Students are introduced to various sets of Qigong, including Daoist, Health Maintenance, Four Seasons Health, as well as Tai Chi Qigong. Next, we teach one or two postures of the Wu Ji Jing Gong Tai Chi Long Form, utilizing demonstrations of the postures, breaking down upper and lower body movements, modeling the instructor’s movements, and having students practice the postures with the group and on their own. We also discuss the martial art applications of the postures, essential principles of Tai Chi, associated benefits, and applications of the principles in activities of daily living. We then have a period for questions and answers and more individualized instruction, while refreshments are being served. Private instruction is also available and recommended to help you to attain higher levels of development. It enables you to go beyond learning the sequence to integrate the essential principles and details into your form. Instructional DVDs, videos and manuals of the Tai Chi forms and Qigongs are available.
